What is Voice Purchasing?

Voice purchasing is the ability to purchase a product using your voice through a smart speaker. This can be a really convenient service for some people that regularly purchase from Amazon or like having the ability to sign up to services or skills on their smart speaker. For others it can be a nightmare, especially if you have a family and the kids like to play random songs and then sign up to Amazon Unlimited or some other version of the subscription by mistake, and funnily enough it is not possible to unsubscribe with your voice, you have to go to the website to do that. So, whatever your circumstances, below we give instructions on how to turn on or off voice purchasing.

How to turn Alexa voice purchasing on or off

  1. Open the Alexa app.
  2. Open More and select Settings.
  3. Select Account Settings.
  4. Select Voice Purchasing.
  5. Turn Voice Purchasing on or off

Note, if you decide to turn on voice purchasing you have the option to view one click preferences and set a four-digit code or use a voice profile which means Alexa will only purchase the product if it recognises your voice.
