The Working Age Forum - May 28, 2024

9 Going

Everything is set up for the 19th Working Age Forum (WAF), so if you would like to register and participate in the conversation, read on. The forum is organised by Breandan Ward in collaboration with Clare Kennelly and NCBI’s Employment, Training and Academia team. It is a place where people of working age in Ireland who are blind or vision impaired can meet, network, organise and learn from each other.

What is WAF?

The Working Age Forum is a member-led network which meets online via Microsoft Teams. It serves to connect people who are blind and visually impaired with each other to offer and benefit from peer support. Regardless of what stage of employment you are in (whether finding your first job, already working, looking to re-join the workforce after some time out, or retired), you are welcome to join our online sessions which are held bi-monthly and are free of charge.

When is the next meeting?

Our next meeting will be held on  Tuesday, May 28th, from 6:00 PM to 7:15 PM. We will meet online via Microsoft Teams.

What is the topic of discussion?

Our next WAF meeting will focus on careers in technology and how to successfully navigate any career in the context of blindness or sight loss. For our 19th WAF meeting, we are delighted to welcome our guest speaker Tony Murray for an informative and interactive conversation.

Tony is a Principal Solution Architect in the Central Bank of Ireland where he manages a team of Senior Solution Architects. As well as having oversight from a design perspective for a series of significant technology projects, he represents the Central Bank of Ireland at various European Central Bank forums, such as a Machine Learning Experts Network, and a Statistical Information Management Working Group. Tony is also on the Board of Vision Ireland and chairs its Services subcommittee.

Where can I register?

Please RSVP above through the “Book Now” option. After registering, you will receive an automatic confirmation email. A second email will be sent a few days before the event with the meeting link to join the virtual session on Teams. Don’t forget to manually mark your calendar
