December 15th 2023 – Vision Ireland, the new name for NCBI, is delighted to announce the reopening of our two stores in Midleton which experienced extensive flood damage as a result of Storm Babet at the end of October

Both stores, which are just metres from each other, have been closed for nearly eight weeks because of the flooding. Since then, teams at both stores have worked tirelessly to completely revamp the stores, updating the look and feel of the shopping experience and to change over our name from NCBI to Vision Ireland.

Today, we announce the opening of the Vision Ireland Midleton fashion shop, which is located at 5 Roxborough Mews, Distillery Walk, Midleton and our store focusing on homeware, furniture and children’s items which will re-open at 2 Roxborough Mews.

Chief Commercial Officer, Beverley Scallan said: “We were devastated to learn about the flooding situation in Midelton, not only for both of our stores, but also for the other small businesses and residences in the area. I can’t commend enough the teams at both our stores in Midleton for the effort they have put in to turn a terrible situation into a real success story. A special mention is needed for to Store Manager Teresa O’Brien and Sales Assistants Trina Hegarty and Damian Murray, who really led the transformation of both shops to what the local community will see today on our reopening as Vision Ireland.”

Lorna O’Donovan, Regional Manager for Vision Ireland’s Midleton stores, added: “The damage to both of our Midleton stores was a huge blow for us, but the teams took everything in their stride and have helped to produce two revamped Vision Ireland stores that would rival any retail experience around the country. I know from experience how important a part Vision Ireland shops play within the communities they serve. It is brilliant to see the support from those in the local community as everyone gets back on their feet following the flooding in October. Reopening here allows us to continue the wider work of Vision Ireland, which is to provide quality services and supports for people in Ireland who are blind or vision impaired.”

Although the look and name of Midleton’s NCBI shops is changing to Vision Ireland, a shopper’s ability to bag a bargain or find a hidden gem will remain the same. Our pre-loved clothes and accessories in Midleton and around Ireland provide the perfect alternative to fast fashion and gives customers a great opportunity to find a brilliant and unique Christmas present for a loved one. Donations will also be gratefully accepted at either of our Midelton stores or at any other Vision Ireland shop around Ireland.

Vision Ireland which is new name for NCBI operates the second largest chain of charity shops in Ireland and these stores play an integral part in the charity’s overall fundraising efforts, allowing the national sight loss agency to provide vital, life-changing services to approximately 8,000 people each year.
