August 10th 2023 – NCBI (National Council for the Blind of Ireland) is thrilled to announce the opening of its newest retail store in Tipperary Town which boasts a new, modernised look and feel.

To celebrate our newest store, which is the perfect place for locals to grab their pre-loved gems, Billy Shanahan, who runs the annual Trip To Tipp event supporting NCBI and our work, joined the Tipperary Town team. Mr Shanahan kindly cut the opening ribbon on opening day to officially welcome our new neighbours into the store at 14/15 Main Street, Tipperary Town, E34 PD25.

Mr Shanahan said: ‘I was delighted to be asked to cut the ribbon to open this new store which will be a brilliant addition to Tipperary Town. NCBI has been close to my heart for many years, and we’re delighted to once again be able to support this amazing charity with Trip To Tipp 2023 on September 3rd. I would encourage everyone in Tipperary to pop into the new store and support NCBI in any way possible.’

Elaine Williams, Area Manager for NCBI Tipperary Town, added: “The welcome we’ve had from everybody in the town in the lead up to opening and today has been nothing short of amazing and we thank Billy for his support today and each year with Trip To Tipp.

“We can’t wait to meet even more people over the coming months and share some of the amazing men’s, women’s and children’s clothing, homeware items, furniture and more that will be available in Tipperary Town. Community support is so important to us so please drop in with any donations you have, if you’re interested in becoming a volunteer at the store or if you would just like to say hi!’

Although the look inside NCBI shops is changing, a shopper’s ability to bag a bargain or find a hidden gem certainly will not. Our pre-loved clothes and accessories in Tipperary and around Ireland provide the perfect alternative to fast fashion. Donations will also be gratefully accepted at Tipperary or any other NCBI shop around Ireland.

NCBI’s chain of shops, which is the second largest in Ireland, plays a vital and integral part in the charity’s overall fundraising efforts, allowing the national sight loss agency to provide vital, life-changing services to over 8,000 people each year.
