Imagine being able to access your favourite accessibility features on your smartphone with just the press of a button. We’re just a couple of months away from Apple’s annual iPhone event in September and one rumour of particular interest to many iPhone users in the sight loss community is the addition of an Action button in the iPhone 15 Pro, which could be used as a dedicated accessibility button.

The Action button on the iPhone 15 Pro would be very much similar to the one found on the Watch Ultra, replacing the mute switch, and giving access to a whole host of different features. When pressed, the button could activate features and settings specific to the iPhone including accessibility options, camera settings, magnifier, shortcuts, silent mode, and voice memo recordings. With Siri Shortcuts the button could in theory do anything such as launch a channel in Microsoft Seeing AI, play the radio, toggle VoiceOver, control your smart home appliances, and much more.

The iPhone 15 is expected to launch in September and feature models to include the standard iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max. Of course, it’s best to take this news with a pinch of salt as this is just rumours. However, there is quite strong evidence for this Action button and it could be Apple’s plan to set the iPhone 15 Pro variants apart from the standard iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus. We eagerly watch this space.
