The first brand-new Vision Ireland store launches in Limerick

Four women from the Vision Ireland store in Limerick are standing between two pillars of blue, white and orange balloons which match the exterior colours of the store. They are cutting the ribbon to open the Limerick store outside the door of the shop.

November 6th 2023 – Vision Ireland, the new name for NCBI, couldn’t be happier to announce that the very first, brand-new Vision Ireland charity store has launched in Limerick.

The team at store, which is located on 28 Cruises Street, Limerick, V94AH33, celebrated surrounded by balloons and cut the ribbon to welcome the dozens of supporters who turned out for the store opening on the day. Our new Vision Ireland store will boast the most modern look of any store in the charity or mainstream retail industries in Ireland.

The store is packed with incredible pre-loved pieces and is also home to one of our best, and most colourful, Vintage sections – a hugely popular addition to Vision Ireland stores, which previously traded under NCBI.

This store launches on the day that NCBI also changed its name to Vision Ireland. This is a change borne out of a necessity for Vision Ireland to help members of the public and medical professionals to understand that the organisation provides services and supports for people who live with all manner of vision impairment. We will continue to support our service users who are blind or vision impaired in the same ways we always have, but the Vision Ireland name will allow us to reach more people than ever before.

Head of Vision Ireland Retail, Beverley Scallan said: “The launch of the first brand-new Vision Ireland store in Limerick is one of the most exciting projects that I have been involved with. NCBI’s transformation to Vision Ireland will transform how we provide services to those who are blind or vision impaired, and our Vision Ireland stores, with their incredible new look, supported by a sustainable fit-out and our hugely popular Vintage range, are placed to play a huge part in the evolution of our organisation. It was brilliant to see the support at the Cruises Street store on opening day and the future for our relationship with the town looks as bright as our colourful store!”

Elaine Williams, Area Manager for Vision Ireland Cruises Street, added: “The opening day energy for our new Vision Ireland store is fantastic. The people who have visited us have been so kind in their compliments for the store and even kinder in their support for Vision Ireland by shopping our pre-loved ranges in the store. We want to welcome even more locals into our store, whether it be volunteering for a couple of hours a week, or whether it is to drop in with a donation – anything you can do will make a huge difference in supporting our efforts to open up Vision Ireland’s services to more people in Limerick and around Ireland.”

Although the name of NCBI is changing to Vision Ireland, along with the look our these stores, a shopper’s ability to bag a bargain or find a hidden gem certainly will not. Our pre-loved clothes and accessories in Limerick and around Ireland provide the perfect alternative to fast fashion. Donations will also be gratefully accepted at Limerick Cruises Street or any other Vision Ireland shop around Ireland.

Vision Ireland, which is new name for NCBI, operates the second largest chain of shops in Ireland and these stores plays an integral part in the charity’s overall fundraising efforts, allowing the national sight loss agency to provide vital, life-changing services to over 8,000 people each year.
