The AppleVis resource is spreading its Wings

AppleVis is a well-known platform dedicated to Apple-related content tailored for individuals with visual impairments. For many VoiceOver and low vision users, it serves as their initial go-to resource after purchasing a new Apple product, or as a hub for experienced users to stay updated on the latest Apple product news and iOS applications.

But now AppleVis has decided to make a change. They are becoming more inclusive and opening their platform to include information and discussions on Android, Windows, and other assistive and smart technology.

AppleVis hopes this change will invite a new audience to the platform.

This seems to follow recent changes and trends in EU law recently which will force Apple to allow other app stores on their platform.

Over the years, AppleVis has observed that as its platform has expanded, so too have the range and diversity of topics. So, to start with, this change will only cover forums, and will cover Windows, Android, and smart home, because this is where they have noticed most of the discussions changing direction. This is mainly due to smart home and smart speakers linking in with Apple Devices.

AppleVis is saying that this is going to be a pilot session tested on their forums for the next 3 or 4 months.

The Decision to discuss other technologies on forums instead of the main area of the site is to show people that Apple is still its core mission. But the fact that most people have all kinds of different devices and are not exclusively Apple means that this decision to open its forums to other platforms makes a lot of sense.

We quite like the idea as it shows an inclusive attitude to technology and brings in a wider community of users. The fact that lots of the same types of apps are available on different platforms will mean you can go to a common place to get help and advice from your peers.
