Friday 16th June 2023 – NCBI (National Council for the Blind of Ireland) is delighted to open the new home of our NCBI Sligo store just in time to celebrate this glorious summer. The team at our Sligo store have been working tirelessly to prepare to offer a whole new shopping experience to the town by introducing NCBI’s very popular Vintage range to the store.

NCBI’s Vintage range has proved extremely popular since it launched exactly one year ago in three stores. The range has since expanded to almost 30 stores around Ireland – Sligo being the latest.

To celebrate the arrival of Vintage and our brand-new location, we had a special guest who joined the team at NCBI Sligo, 27 Castle Street, Abbeyquarter North, Co. Sligo, F91NY01, to cut the opening ribbon. Local NCBI service user, Helen Gray, turned out in support of the new location.

Carmel McDonnell, Area Manager for the Sligo store added: “It is such an amazing feeling to have our new location in Sligo open and ready for the public to enjoy. We have always had such positive interactions with members of the local community, and they proved their support again for NCBI by turning out to celebrate our new location this morning. With the arrival of Vintage, we now have a wider offer for the community, and we hope that any local students or anyone else with a passion for pre-loved and vintage will make their first foray into the store and see what we have to offer.

“We would also like to offer a huge thank you to Helen for her support on relocation day. She has been a brilliant ambassador for us today and it means the world to have her join in on the fun!”.

For those who aren’t familiar with our Vintage Range, NCBI Retail has thousands of vintage pieces from brands like Ralph Lauren, Prada, Armani, Timberland, Nike, Puma, Adidas, Asics, Ellesse and more. Sports fans could also find a gem as our Vintage Range extends to retro football and American sport jerseys.

Although the look inside NCBI shops is changing, a shopper’s ability to bag a bargain or find a hidden gem certainly will not. Our pre-loved clothes and accessories in Sligo and around Ireland, provide the perfect alternative to fast fashion. Donations will also be gratefully accepted at Sligo or any other NCBI shop around Ireland.

NCBI’s chain of shops, which is the second largest in Ireland, plays a vital and integral part in the charity’s overall fundraising efforts, allowing the national sight loss agency to provide vital, life-changing services to over 8,000 people each year, many of whom live in Sligo.
