Some Good News for Soundscape Users

The old Microsoft Soundscape app has received a lifeline, but it’s only for two months. It’s now believed that the app will stop working on 30th August, instead of the original shutdown date of 30th June.

Despite the extended life some areas of the app are starting to slowly break, with the soundscape blog section now giving an error. Public access is not permitted on this storage account, the error reads, with a long error code for good measure.

These glitches aren’t game breakers, but they are a stark reminder of the impending shutdown and the need for one of the replacement apps to launch on the App Store soon.  There are two known apps in development, Soundscape For All and Openscape, but the clock is now ticking and time is still running out.

The extension for the original Microsoft Soundscape app is undoubtedly good news, and it’s reassuring to know that new options are just around the corner.
