16th May 2023 – Break out those walking shoes! For the first time ever, NCBI will be hosting our Vision Walk as part of the Marbella 4Days Walking event this October.
The Vision Walk will take place from 4th-9th October in sunny Marbella, where Victoria Smurfit and her daughter, Evie Smurfit Baxter, will join walkers to take in the city’s incredible sights and scenery on a daily 10, 20 or 30km route.
This is a cause close to their hearts as Evie, at 13, was diagnosed with Stargardt’s disease, a degenerative macular condition that causes vision loss in children and young adults.
Announcing her ambassadorship, Ms Smurfit said: “Evie and I are so excited to take part in NCBI’s Vision Walk this year and do a great thing for a great cause. We’re preparing for this once-in-a-lifetime trip. We can’t wait to walk and talk with the fabulous fundraisers and the lucky competition winners when we jet off in October. Get involved in any way you can; it’s going to be a special one!”
