Empowering Self-care: NCBI’s Free Events Shed Light on Mental Wellbeing during European Mental Health Week

A counsellor is holding a woman's hand during a therapy session. Both people are sitting on a sofa beside a table which has a notebook and a glass of water on it.

According to a recent survey from EU-OSHA (European Union information agency for occupational safety and health), almost half (44%) of the interviewed workers stated that their work stress increased because of the COVID-19 pandemic, and a little bit more than a quarter (27%) experienced stress, depression or anxiety that were either caused or worsened by their work environment.

Considering that European Mental Health Week is marked from the 22nd to 28th of May 2023, NCBI’s Counselling, Wellbeing & Emotional Support Team is organizing a free informational talk “Understanding Anxiety”.

Anxiety is the most prevalent presenting issue for those who present to our counselling service. However, the management of anxiety issues often begins with developing a better understanding of the mechanics of how it can impact our lives and how we can take steps to reduce it.

The event will take place online, on Wednesday, the 24th of May, from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM. If you would like to join in and participate, please register through the following link on the NCBI website: Understanding Anxiety

The importance of mental wellbeing is also recognised by our Vision Sports Ireland team, who is co-organising the series of webinars titled “The Role of Nature in Health and Wellbeing” in collaboration with Nature Therapy Ireland.

The first session of the series will explore the incredible health and well-being benefits of spending time in nature. This interactive workshop will provide up-to-date research that is accessible and inclusive for everyone. Invitations will be easy to understand and simple to act upon. Whether you have access to nature sounds, indoor house plants, an urban park, a mountain or woodland, there is no right or wrong way to connect to nature.

The event will take place online, on Tuesday, the 23rd of May, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. If you would like to join in and participate, please register through the following link on the NCBI website: The Role of Nature in Health and Wellbeing Series – Event One .

The numbers of participants for both events are limited, so make sure you register to secure your space!
